Experience overview
Throughout this virtual work experience, you’ll explore what it’s like to work at L&Q - one of the UK’s leading housing associations. You’ll discover how L&Q’s purpose drives everything they do, from creating quality, affordable homes to supporting residents and communities across the country. Across the modules, you’ll meet real employees, gain insight into a variety of roles, and see how teamwork, innovation, and inclusion come together to make a lasting difference.
What's included
You’ll begin by learning about L&Q’s history, values, and culture, before diving into the different teams that make it all happen - from those building and maintaining homes, to the customer and resident support services that keep communities thriving. You’ll also explore the behind-the-scenes departments like IT, HR, and Finance that keep the organisation running smoothly. Finally, you’ll focus on developing your own employability skills - understanding the key qualities employers look for and how to start building them today.
This module will introduce you to the story and culture behind L&Q, from its origins to its role today as one of the UK’s leading housing associations. Discover how L&Q’s purpose is to "provide social homes and landlord services that everyone can be proud of” shapes its work, guiding its commitment to affordable housing, sustainability, and inclusion.
In this module, you’ll explore how L&Q builds and looks after thousands of homes across the UK. Hear from the teams who design, develop, and maintain properties, and understand how these roles come together to ensure every home meets the highest standards of safety, comfort, and sustainability.
This module shines a spotlight on the frontline roles that make L&Q’s residents feel supported and heard. Discover how L&Q engages with residents, and how technology and other digital tools help maximise customer impact.
Here, we’ll focus on the other roles that provide practical and emotional support to residents. Discover the history and story behind the L&Q Foundation, and its contribution to L&Q’s social mission.
This module will take you behind the scenes as you uncover the vital departments that keep L&Q running smoothly — including IT, HR, and Finance. Discover the opportunities on offer for you here, and understand how you could make a difference across the business
No matter where you see yourself working in the future, strong employability skills will help you get there. This module is all about the key skills that employers value – like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving – and how you can start developing them now. You’ll learn how these skills work together in real jobs, reflect on your own strengths, and make a plan to build the areas you want to improve.
